Huge Opportunity Opens Up for Small Business on CDM

The Continuous Diagnostic and Mitigation (CDM) program has gone through a lot of changes since it was first launched in 2013. And, each step of the way seems to make the program easier for companies to participate.
The program’s latest change allows companies to include Small Business to be part of CDM and play a bigger role in the program. As the program moves into its next phases, this could be a huge opportunity for companies that have not historically been able to participate.
What’s changed?
CDM’s transition to a Special Item Number (SIN) 132-44 on GSA Schedule 70 allows partners with Participating Dealer Agreements (PDAs) or Contractor Team Agreements (CTAs) with a GSA contract holder that has CDM SIN approved on their contract, to work directly with the government or with Alliant prime contractors on CDM requirements as long as they get manufacturer approval. In addition, with contract holders now working directly with the Department of Homeland Security, it allows immixGroup to add products more quickly and offer them on the CDM SIN once approved on the Approved Product List (APL).
For a value-added reseller to participate in the CDM program, they must get approval from the manufacturer they work with. immixGroup will not issue a blanket approval but instead require each manufacturer to approve the channel partner.
We like this change because this allows participants to confirm they have the correct partner documentation, that a relationship is established and it ties into immixGroup’s supply chain risk management, assuring that no third-party items are offered through CDM.
How to get involved
This change will have a significant impact on small businesses and channel partners who weren’t previously allowed to participate in the CDM program. There are four more task orders that need to be awarded and this could be a terrific opportunity for companies that want to expand their cybersecurity business within government.
Partners not already approved by CDM should contact immixGroup now to ensure proper documentation is in place for future CDM opportunities. We encourage existing and new partners to reach out to us.
